Psalm 34:1-8

Magnify The Lord With Me

Psalm 34:1-8

1 I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the humble hear and be glad.
3 Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together!
4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears.
5 Those who look to him are radiant,
and their faces shall never be ashamed.
6 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him
and saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord encamps
around those who fear him, and delivers them.
8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. (ESV)

His Servant Shall Bring Justice

Isaiah 42:1-4

Moe BergeronBehold my servant, whom I uphold,
my chosen, in whom my soul delights;
I have put my Spirit upon him;
he will bring forth justice to the nations.
2 He will not cry aloud or lift up his voice,
or make it heard in the street;
3 a bruised reed he will not break,
and a faintly burning wick he will not quench;
he will faithfully bring forth justice.
4 He will not grow faint or be discouraged
till he has established justice in the earth;
and the coastlands wait for his law.

Preface: I do not know about you, but there is not a doubt in my mind that Jesus, the Son of God, understood this prophecy from Isaiah as an extra ordinary word from God. For Jesus, Isaiah’s message was worth dying for. So let us within the larger context of Luke 4 take up Isaiah’s message and as we do, let us seek the Spirit’s power to give us a right understanding so that no one in the hearing of this Word from God will reject it and will receive God’s Christ who fulfilled it. As we open this Word from God please pray for those who need His salvation.
